Brain health and cognition are affected by multiple factors, including vascular disease,
pre-existing medical and psychiatric illnesses, genetic predisposition, and social
determinants of health. The latter are increasingly recognized as significant factors
in vulnerability to cognitive decline, but also among the few possibly modifiable
risk factors.
